In 1993 my world as I knew it unraveled and fell apart. By 1995 I was "well" enough in mind and spirit to ask myself, "What do I want to do with the rest of my life?" The answer came quickly with a jolt. I committed that day to being apart of the "comeback" of Downtown Bryan. Maybe in another article I can tell you the whole story but for now I'll simply say that the same commitment and passion live to this day. WHY downtown-----there was a gigantic need. HOW did it happen----what I did was I remembered the past and believed in the future. Old Bryan Marketplace is in Historic Downtown Bryan to stay but we are "birthing" a little SPROUT from 22,000 square feet on Bryan Street to 2000 square feet on University---- same look, same feel, same friendliness---just right for our first "branch-out". So we are saying We will fill it with the best, most eclectic array of " this and that" you'll find anywhere----cards, books, gifts, clothes, shoes, furniture, home accessories, jewelry, candles and some surprises I'm sure! If you are wondering how we can recreate all that Old Bryan Marketplace is and has become to so many faithful friends, we agree it will be HARD….but it will be no HARDER than what I faced in 1995. The most important part for us, as a family, is to make a friend, give those who come in a fun, relaxing time, and offer a caring service to all….what makes me HAPPY is to make others HAPPY! I know Sprout will do that!
